In September , Microsoft announced that it would be selling Windows 7 to students for cheaper, so we had a hunch and headed over to win We found what we were looking for. If you don't want to see the Silverlight version, we've uploaded the short clip of Family Guy's Brian and Stewie discussing Windows 7 and embedded it below:.
Rumor is Windows 7 will also be making its first public debut at the conference. I haven't been able to confirm if Windows 7 really will be shown at the conference or not, but either way, Bill Gates is showing he's a still a standup guy by taking much of the Vista-bashing heat.
Gates has been the spokesperson for Windows 7 to date, relieving Ray Ozzie of making up for the past sins of Vista and Microsoft's design by committee operating system efforts. For an operating system that has little info available about it, I'm amazed at the quantity of articles and blog posts I come across about Windows 7.
Most think it's another ground up operating system rewrite, but I don't see that happening. The only way Microsoft's going to shave years off the 7 year operating system upgrade cycle is to slim down the amount of features and software developed, build it the just completed Vista and Windows Server code base, or both. If I hover over Microsoft Word, where I have more than one document open, I can see a preview of both documents.
I have easily been able to peek in on up to five Word documents at a time. While I am sure you could peek in on more, you may not be able to see what is being worked on as the number grows. If I hover over the Sticky Notes, they are grouped together in another peek. Unfortunately, you cannot tab through the Sticky Notes to see what others might say which might make peeking in on them useless for most.
For me personally, I have found the only real practical use of Peek to be when I am gaming. This can be dangerous for a gamer depending on what game they are playing. For me, if I minimize in an unsafe area, I may be killed if I am not paying attention or come back to the game quickly.
I can use Peek to make sure my character is not under attack. This allows me the chance to check out what is going on elsewhere on the Internet. For others, Peek may provide more functionality and be a nifty feature Windows 7 offers.
